Pat & I had lunch at the restaurant pictured below. There are some very plain structures but also some typical mountain ones.
Here's the entrance to the Glaciers National Park. Once inside, in the main plaza, we found a life sized sculpture of an expeditioner with his horse, and later on, a bust of the Perito Moreno, who was honored by giving his name to a huge glacier. "Perito" means specialist, expert. And it was Francisco Moreno who created the National Park in 1903.
We visited a bird sanctuary in a nearby lagoon. It was a municipal reserve, very cold and windy. Many birds were there, and from a look out point we could see the sun setting over the lagoon. The swans did not care how cold it was.
Cold and tired, we retired to the inn where we were staying to prepare for an excursion to the glaciers in the national park.
